The result of operation of the federation by all related parties can conclude into 3 mains part which are

1.Capacity Building

2.Rule and regulation development

3.The process of developing the basic structure of transport and product distribution

Capacity Building

The Thai federation on logistics considers that improvement of logistics management skill of both public and private organization is important. We decided to play the important role on the employee development and logistics knowledge base thru working process in term of project and meeting to set up goal and build co-operation between related associations. So they realized that it’s important and also energizing in the logistics activity more than before.

The main results of Capacity Building are:

1)      Being the host of the operation for strategic plan of Capacity building Conference which is the meeting between private and public organization such as Office of the national economic and social development board, Department of business development, Department of export promotion, Vocational education commission, Commission on higher education, Department of skill development, Department of land transport, Office of the civil service commission and etc. According to the committee discussion, the level of market need of logistics officers was set as base to set up a target of the development project to be sufficient for market need. And founded they sill require 1,740,000 persons. By the way, production skill and enhancement of employees in related department have only 351,270 persons and ability to build trainer for 1,370 persons.

The committee realized that process of activities which related to the development of learning course and tries to recommend the approach for operate as follow:

• To be clear working and motivation of learning of logistics, the committee sees that it should build the Logistics Career Path to make people have more attention to study about logistics.
• The learning course and improvement of employee skill must have the considerable standard. So it should create Vocational Qualification (VQ) and standardize labor skill to make private and many level of employees increase personal skill that involve with task and career improvement.
• Logistics knowledge is the art that combine between facts and real experience in industry. Maintain the University lecturer to study more on Business research and always presenting the result of research to publicity. Also recover the preparation of learning equipments to give an exact knowledge about industry.
• Lack of people who study especially Thai logistics to build and improve level of current workers. So it should encourage and give the right to teachers to formulate the quality teachers more enter into learning system and should have the effective qualification for teacher to build the constant development.
• From need of workforce is huge while the ability of government organization still limit now. We should support the private organization start the training center and standardization center in all aspect by the government will be the one who set up the necessary standard for look after.

On the other hand, result from conference makes the structure plan for developing learning and training course become more attractive and co-operation between the parties that come to the conference as well. Cause we can see from the increasing of Training Program of both Vocational Education and Higher Education as follow:

Especially, Vocational School has 27 guided schools and 494 students in year 2006.  For every Higher school that have Logistics course (both faculty of logistics and logistics major subject) and can create the workforce around 1,488 persons per year.

Beside the conference still be the one that build more good relationship between correlated people and bring collaboration in training between private, public and education institution.

2)      Working process of project under Trade Capacity Building with Ministry of Foreign Affair to develop an efficiency logistic of Thai entrepreneur in both production and logistics services to be ready for competition when open the negotiation about Free Trade Agreement(FTA) with partnership countries such as USA, Australia and Japan, which join and founded 4 project as follow:

• Project Thai-U.S. Logistics Fair and Symposium 2006 which has on 5-7 October 2006 at Hall 3 Impact arena Muangthong. In Thai-U.S. Logistics Fair and Symposium 2006 consist of 2 activities which are the fair of logistics entrepreneur from both industrial and services, government section, Education section and the second activity is the academic seminar by Thai professors from both private and public division and Foreign Professors. As a result, it makes the joint people get the updated information logistics technology which is the advantage for business. Also has more knowledge changing and cooperative in businesses. And including understanding and development of logistics which has the interested and beneficial topic as:

• Logistics Standard Systems Project which has target to build the method of improving logistics system of entrepreneur by Benchmarking quality of Thai service provider and foreigners. To know a rank of our competitive ability and industry and also can upgrade the right efficiency by improve the good logistics management tools for them. Including introducing the best solution of logistics services from studying in term of educational for both inbound and outbound and true learning from logistics services provider.

Result from project is the logistics service provider can bring tools from project to estimate the effectiveness of working and also can tell the key thing that have to be improving for services.

While the logistics service user can evaluate knowledge to hiring the right and appropriate of the outsourcing logistics provider. This also include, controlling and evaluating of procession from logistics service provider.

• Logistics Curriculums project is the project that need to be support on development of logistics course in the education institution that still didn’t have this course. By the integrated course will target on using as an advance of study of education association from both Vocational and Higher level.

As a result of this project, it makes education institution in many level of Thailand have a standard logistics course that suit and rely on the need of entrepreneur. It has the continuity improvement of logistics knowledge base all the time. And also be the value added to the Thai logistics workforce and cooperation between logistics educates association of Thailand and USA to enlarge and change knowledge together.

• Logistics Awareness Project come from Thai federal on logistics see that now a day private and public section especially Thai small and medium enterprise has understand the differencing point about logistics. Most think that logistics is only transportation by land, sea or air. But the facts is, Transportation is only one thing in a logistics system that is the management of deliver the goods to customer as fast as possible by perfectly and low cost. Then it’s related with people since material producer, factory, and seller until buyer and still involve with lots of activities such as the warehouse management, purchase order, data controlling until banking activities.

Project processing come with study, analyzing, rearrange of logistics knowledge, estimate and conclude knowledge from Thai and US organization to be in term of medias that have variety and make the communication tools as typing one and internet one. This is for spread out and manages the Thai and US communication by seminar in education institution, industrial place and some provinces that have logistics activities. The communication base in USA, Communication via radio and knowledge thru any Medias include making the website to be the information center for national logistics by collecting all information such as development solution, innovation and efficiency logistics management. These will connect to related department in both private and public sector also. By the way, it will be both Thai and English for advantage of target group.

Another important outcome is creating an opportunity to increase anyone who needs to study in the logistics field from both Higher and Vocational school. Because of the seminar in the project has invited 250 advising teachers from higher school to know the industry information and progressive of occupation in logistics sector. These can make the students know and make decision to study about logistics more than before. Then it will have more workforces of logistics field into the future industry.

3)      Support the expert to describe their knowledge to private sector, public sector and education association by board of Thai federation of logistics have joined to with knowledge upgrading activities and teaching of schooling organization and the department that relate to the national developing logistics system such as

• Academic seminar about Logistics by public and private sectors
• The teaching for training of educational institution and In-house training
• Development and improvement project of logistics teacher in the department of the vocational education

4)      Joined the logistics activity of public and private sector such as participated in a Thailand Logistics Fair 2005-2006 which hold up by Department of export promotion, Ministry of Commerce Thailand. And also participated in “AR 2006” Fair which organized by Department of Vocational education association.

The participation in activities from private and public sector make Thai federation on logistics become more recognized and know our tasks as the representative of private sector in term of developing the national logistics system. These acts create the cooperation between divisions also.

5)      Participated in the conference to give a recommendation to involved sectors by the board of Thai federation on logistics become a part of giving the suggestion concerning the procedure of creating and developing a personal learning potentiality. Such as joined an advice meeting of the planning approach for generate workforces of the department of Higher Education. Participated in seminar of development of basic structure for transportation project such as port and many type of transportation.

6)      Support and guidance the way to develop a course of logistics to learning institution for example: Collaboration to develop the logistics course with Sriprathun University and logistics course guidance of Naresuan University.

From operational of Thai federation on Logistics wish to create a proper developing of the national logistics learning system in the long run. We try to encourage the learning institution to have an appropriate study that match with country needs. And be able to create workforce that have a right skill thru the need of private sector. Finally, also has capacity to communicate and solving the problem immediately.
